Volunteer Opportunities at IAM
(Bilingual volunteers are needed in all departments)
FOOD ASSISTANCE:
Receive and stock food donations. Assist neighbors with shopping in the pantry
MOBILE PANTRY EVENTS
Each week, the IAM Mobile Pantry travels into the community to distributed food to neighbors in need. Volunteers are needed to staff this event, once per week.
CLOTHING ASSISTANCE:
Sort incoming clothing donations. Fill clothing orders for neighbors in need.
FILE MANAGER:
Provides file support services to intake interviewers.
INTAKE INTERVIEWER:
Interview clients to determine their needs and eligibility for assistance. Computer skills required.
INTAKE FACILITATOR:
Assist Intake Manager, Intake Interviewers and Client Receptionist.
THRIFT STORE VOLUNTEER:
Sort donations, price items for sale, serve as store cashier, stock and maintain store shelves/racks.

Volunteer Shifts are typical mornings or afternoons with one or more shifts available to volunteers each week. IAM is open Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Different volunteer positions require a range of physical abilities. Some positions will require significant standing and/or lifting, while others will allow the volunteer to sit and do more desk-type work. Regardless of your physical capabilities, IAM will work with you to find an appropriate volunteer job.

Clothing Assistance Department
•Assist neighbors select clothing
•Fill orders provided by Intake Department
•Maintain shelves and racks with inventory
Clothing Sorters
•Inspect, size, and sort clothing, shoes, and other donations.
•Assist Sorting Supervisor as Needed.
Thrift Store Volunteers
•Donation sorters
•Clothing pricers
•Driver helpers to assist in donation pickups
Immediate Needs:
Various Shifts with the greatest need for Friday Afternoons and Saturdays
File Managers
Assist Neighbor Receptionist in creating new files.
Ensure Neighbor Files are Kept in Proper Order.
Take Neighbor Files to Neighbor Receptionist and Intake Manager
Take and Pick up Mail from Post Office
Assist in Clerical Tasks as Necessary
No computer skills are necessary
Pantry Volunteer
Ability to bend, lift, and carry up to 40lbs
Receive, weigh, and stock food donations.
Assist Pantry Manager as needed to stock food donations.
IAM Mobile Volunteer
Once per week at various locations in the community
Set up and take down distribution tables
Help neighbors select their food choices
Typically Wednesdays from 2:30 - 5:30
Intake Interviewers
•Work with clients to gather and verify information to determine eligibility for assistance.
•Provide clients with available resources to meet their needs, including information and referrals to other agencies.
•Must have strong computer skills
•Good hearing, listening, and communication skills
•Training is provided (Must be able to attend 3 observations and 8 hours of computer training)
Food Assistance
•Receive and fill food orders for families in crisis
•Select food per order, bag food, and deliver to neighbor's car.
•Light housekeeping, sweep, empty trashcan, wipe down countertops.
