IAM provides free crisis assistance with:
Free Food and Hygiene Items
Free Clothing
Financial Assistance

All services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, Monday through Friday at the following times:

IAM’s offices are located at 310 Freeman Street in Hendersonville off of Four Season’s Blvd. Please call (828) 697-7029 and select Option 2 if you have questions.
Services Provided
Food and Hygiene Assistance
Individuals and families who need assistance may visit the IAM pantry during regular business hours, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free food is provided for each member of the household. No Henderson County residency or proof of income required.
IAM offers both traditional and Latino food options. IAM also offers personal hygiene items, baby diapers, pet food, and special holiday food items for Thanksgiving and Christmas/Hannukah.
Schedule of Services Provided:
Food — enough food to feed your family for a week (once a week)
Pet Food — (once a week)
Diapers — baby or adult (once a week)
Feminine hygiene products — pads and tampons (once a month)
Personal Use Items — dish soap, shampoo, hand soap, deodorant, razor, toothbrush, toothpaste (every 2 months)
Clothing Assistance
Free clothing is available to residents with a Henderson County address. We offer adult and children’s clothing, work clothing, shoes, coats, towels, and bed linens.
Schedule of Services Provided:
Clothing — Second-hand clothing (once a month)
New underwear, coats (once a year)
Blankets/Sheets/Pillows/Bath Towels (once a year)
Financial Assistance
Individuals living in Henderson County and requesting financial assistance with overdue utility and rent bills, prescription assistance, or bus tickets, must provide the following information:
What You Need to Bring
**Very Important: If you are requesting financial assistance, please arrive before 2:30 to allow us time to process your request.
It is very helpful if you come in 10 days before the disconnect date, but you should arrive no less than two days before the disconnect date.
Personal Identification:
Bring an ID if you have one. IAM can assist you if you don't have a Driver's License or a Social Security Card as long as you have proof that you live in Henderson County. We will also need the names and dates of birth for family members living with you.
For Utility Assistance: (Duke Power)
•Proof of income is needed for utility assistance.
•Bring discontinued/cut-off notice
•Come in at least 2 days before the cut-off date.
For Heating Fuel Assistance
•Bring the company name of your fuel supplier
•Know what kind of fuel you need: oil or kerosene
•IAM is unable to provide assistance for portable tanks
For Rent Assistance
•Bring an eviction or late notice from the landlord
•Bring information about the entire household income for the past two months.
Prescription Assistance
•For current or new medications, bring a hard copy of your prescription or the prescription bottle still eligible for refill.
Schedule of Services Provided
Financial Assistance — utility assistance (electricity, water, gas), housing rent, heating oil, and prescription medications (once every 12 months)
