IAMpact Report 2024

Helping Hands & Caring Hearts since 1984

A Message from our Executive Director

Thank you for your steadfast support of IAM through one of the most challenging years ever. While most of us have recovered from Hurricane Helene, the aftermath of the storm will be with our neighbors for many years to come. In short, the impact of Helene on IAM has been immense.

IAM is serving neighbors who have never reached out to us before, as rents, utility bills, and food bills soar to new heights. In fact, IAM served 1 in 9 Henderson County households through our crisis service programs in 2024. These services — nutritious food, personal care items, seasonal clothing, and financial assistance with housing, utilities, transportation, and prescriptions — serve as a lifeline to thousands of local residents. They provide hope to our neighbors who have lost so much.

Our entire IAM Staff and Board are profoundly grateful for your support. Please consider making a gift today to help us continue to serve so many in these difficult times.

2024 Highlights

HURRICANE HELENE RELIEF
IAM organized drive-thru emergency food distribution, collected donations of food, clothing, and hygiene items from around the country, and coordinated with local government and civic organizations to provide support and supplies to thousands of area citizens whose lives were upended by Hurricane Helene.

HEALTHY OPPORTUNITIES PILOT (HOP)
Since 2023, IAM has been a key partner in the Healthy Opportunities Pilot, also known as HOP. This pilot program, based in North Carolina and the first of its kind in the nation, uses federal funding to provide non-medical interventions like healthy food, transportation, and housing assistance to high-needs Medicaid enrollees. Through HOP, IAM has extended its reach to hundreds of area citizens and further improved the lives of the most vulnerable among us.

IAM’s Community Impact

With extensive in-kind donations and over 24,000 volunteer hours contributed, IAM is able to maximize the impact of its food, clothing, and financial assistance programs.

IAM partners with congregations, nonprofits, social service agencies, businesses, civic groups, and neighborhood organizations to efficiently and effectively serve Henderson County residents in crisis.

IAM strives to prevent homelessness, keep neighbors safe and warm, and preserve the dignity and health of our most vulnerable citizens. Ultimately, IAM aims to make Henderson County a better, more equitable place for all.
